  1. A new restaurant opens approximately every 14.5 hours.

Menu Items

One of the best things about the chain is that the menu has a wide range of offerings to please every family member's palate. They are best known for their mouthwatering hamburgers, with some of the most popular being the Big Mac, Quarter Pounder with Cheese, and the McDouble. If you aren’t a big fan of burgers, they have chicken options as well, including Buttermilk Crispy Tenders, Chicken McNuggets, and Classic Chicken Sandwich variations. The options don’t stop there, as they also have numerous salads and wraps to choose from for a slightly healthier option. Additionally, breakfast is available with customer favorites like Sausage McGriddles and Cheese McMuffins.

In addition to the ordinary locations, there are several specialty locations and services available as well. For example, if you don’t want to eat inside the restaurant, you can take your meal to-go or pick it up through the drive-thru instead. Your area may also include a McCafe, which is a coffee-house-style food and beverage version of the establishment. There are even options for truckers via the McStop option. This variation is targeted at truckers and travelers and can be found only at truck stops.

A Brief History

The first restaurant was officially opened on April 15, 1955. Before franchising, the original owners, Richard and Maurice McDonald, had a smaller BBQ restaurant with 25 different items. Out of all these items, they discovered that their hamburgers were the best sellers. Once they noticed this trend, they quickly removed all of the BBQ offerings and restructured their restaurant. They also became the first establishment to use an assembly line production for their food, which allowed them to quickly serve customers, leading to an enormous amount of repeat business. It didn’t take long before Ray Kroc, who would become the official founder in history books, came along and partnered with the brothers. He implemented a new strategy to franchise locations across the United States, which prompted the quick rise of the chain.
